GEORGE CHARALAMBIDES & CO LLC was established in 1975 by Mr. George Charalambides. We are located in our privately owned, fully computerised offices in the town of lawyers in Limassol, Cyprus.

The structure of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus is similar to other western democracies where human rights, political pluralism and private property are safeguarded, and there is a multi-party system of democracy based on proportional representation. Cyprus is a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the Commonwealth. The legal system in Cyprus is based upon the same principles as those applicable in the United Kingdom. All statutes regulating business matters and procedures are based essentially on English law. We do however have the continental system of administrative law, based on the French and Greek system. Cyprus has an open free market economy, and is an international business centre, characterised by stability and a European standard and quality of living.

Cyprus has been a member of the European Union since 1 May 2004 and is a member of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union. On 1 January 2008, Cyprus has completed the third stage of the EMU and adopted the Euro as its official currency.

Strategically located in the Eastern Mediterranean Cyprus is often referred to as the stepping-stone to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, attracting foreign investors with its favourable taxation regime (10% Corporate Taxation). Since 1975, over 50,000 permits have been issued by the Central Bank of the Republic for the establishment of international business companies, commonly referred to as offshore companies.

Limassol, is on the Southern Coast of the island, and is a renowned primary offshore business centre with support facilities that compare favourably with those of the best-established business centres in the world.

All these circumstances have allowed our firm to develop a diverse and interesting profile over the years dealing, with both foreign and domestic clients, in matters such as among others: the registering of local and offshore companies, corporate law, contract law, stock exchange law, real estate, civil litigation, trademarks, and road traffic accidents to mention but a few.
